Making an External Transfer

 

  1. Log into Northwest Online Banking.
  2. Navigate to “Transfer Money”
  • In the top navigation bar, click Transfer Money.
  • A drop-down menu will appear. Select Transfer Accounts.
  1. Add an External Account
  • Select Add Account.
  • A pop-up will display two options:
    • My account at another financial institution (external account).
    • Someone else’s account at Northwest Bank (deposit only).
  • Choose “My account at another financial institution.”
  1. Enter Account Details
  • In the pop-up, fill in the following:
    • Account Nickname
    • Routing Number (select the financial institution automatically)
    • Account Type (choose Checking for this demo)
    • Account Number and Confirm Account Number
  • Click Add Account.
  1. Verify Your Account
  • A pop-up will confirm the account has been added as unverified.
  • Two small deposits will be sent to your external account within the next 3–5 business days.
  • Once you receive these deposits, return to this screen and click Verify under External Accounts.
  1. Verify Deposit Amounts
  • A new pop-up will ask for Deposit Amount 1 and Deposit Amount 2. Enter these amounts and select Verify.
  • A message will confirm the account has been verified.
  1. Make a Transfer
  • Go back to Transfer Money in the top navigation and select Make a Transfer.
  • Choose your accounts:
    • From: Select the external account.
    • To: Select your internal loan account.
  • Under Payment Options, you can choose:
    • Payment Due, Entire Balance, or Other Amount (select Other Amount for this demo).
  1. Schedule Your Transfer
  • For external transfers, you must schedule a future transfer.
  • Select from:
    • Future One-Time or Recurring (default is Future One-Time for external transfers).
  • Choose the Transfer Date (allow 1–2 business days for processing).
  1. Complete Transfer
  • Optionally, add a description in the provided field.
  • Click the Transfer button (green button).
  • A pop-up will notify you that, for security, you may need to verify your identity via text message or phone call.
  • Finally, a confirmation dialog will display, stating that your transfer has been successfully scheduled.
